How driving with VEDU works

Drive children on their everyday journeys to school, activities and home. Receive and accept ride offers in the app, follow VEDU’s safety procedures and ensure each child is safely handed over at the destination.

A VEDU driver at the wheel

What you need to join

  • A valid category B driving licence and at least 3 years of driving experience
  • A suitable vehicle and an appropriate child safety seat
  • The required business status, transport permits and documents
  • An additional Android phone for VEDU’s camera system
  • Willingness to complete VEDU’s assessment and safety training
  • A responsible attitude and good communication with children and parents

The VEDU driver app is available for iPhone and Android. An Android phone is currently required for the additional camera system. Rides use GPS tracking and a camera system with video and audio recording.

  2. Complete checks and training

    Submit the required documents and complete VEDU’s assessment and safety training.

  3. Start receiving ride offers

    Once your profile is approved and activated, you can receive ride offers in the app.

Tell us about yourself

Your name as on your ID, your contact details, your personal code and a photo of your face.

Write your name and surname exactly as in your passport or ID card.

Your Latvian personal code. Required to report your paid trips to the tax authority.

The parent of your ride will see this photo during the ride, so they know who is coming for their child. To change it later, contact VEDU support.

The car you will drive: make and model, colour, plate and child seats.

Tick everything you carry. At least one certified, age-appropriate seat is required.

A second phone for the camera

Rides are recorded for the safety of children and drivers.

  • The recording helps establish what happened if questions or complaints come up.
  • The camera is a separate Android phone mounted in the car. The companion app is free.
  • The camera has to be on during rides.
